Prof Erel is a graduate of Robert College. He has obtained his BS in Industrial Engineering from Istanbul Technical University, MS in Industrial Engineering from Stanford University, and Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering and Operations Research from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. He has been the director of Institute of Economics and Social Sciences of Bilkent University since 2004.
